As you can tell from this postpolitics really bothers me sometimes. I can’t explain it other than I have many strenuous objections to a system that rewards the best ’spinner’ of truth with extreme power and leadership. Anyway, this morning I’ve seen some other Christian folks
talking about whether or not to vote for McCain and I have to say I’m not that concerned about John McCain in the White House. What bothers me is the idea of Obama–which we could probably survive as a nation–or *shudder* The Clinton’s for eight more years. I may not enjoy some of the things McCain has done or said but he has at least DONE something other than talk. Unlike the last Republican President we had, he knows how to compromise in order to actually get something done.
And lets not forget about the Christian Slaves in Caesars house. Lets not forget about Paul in chains and in Rome and how nearly all of Caesars household was converted. The athiests and the agnostics may not like Christians but I bet they like doing business with them if they practice what they preach. Thats the sort of situation we have here.
Grow up people. This ain’t Sunday School.

My favorite campaign slogan ever “Cthulhu for president…why vote for a lesser evil?” I put in the link for the Science Fiction challenged…its OK though, you’re probably better off that way.

How partisan does that sound?
Here’s my monthly political post on this article I read in the Washington Post.
When I started reading it I was agin it. When I got to the end of it I thought it probably couldn’t hurt to have surveillance on over seas calls. I just get jumpy when I see the words ‘broad expansion’ and ‘Senate’ in the same sentence.

I figured since I watched the Republican Debate I’d watch the Democrats duke it out. I was disappointed. The first part looked more like the Miss America Q and A and by the time the second part was over I thought Obama had just about talked Hillary into voting for him.
The only good news is that we’re on the tail end of this two year election cycle. I think it ought to be against to law to start running for President anytime before the actual election year. Put that in your election/campaign reform package and I might vote for it.

Fine. I watched the debate. I’m not apolitical. Just a few comments here about it though.
First, I thought McCain and Romney were going to throw down. That was obvious. Paul was ticked because it didn’t seem like anyone was there to hear him, even though he did get some applause. In California thats scary enough. I do recall, though, that Huckabee was the only one who came out of the thing un-tarred. There was plenty of mud slinging going on but he didn’t do it as far as I could tell other than lobbing a governors-make-better-presidents bomb out in the middle of the mess that was already there. But out of all the candidates, he was the only one who wasn’t tagged at least once.
I also liked Huckabee’s thing about life and abortion, etc.
My favorite part was when Anderson Cooper interrupted Romney’s ‘I was a great governor’ speech with “So are you running for Governor or President?” Good question to ask considering.

Next time you wonder why the boomers are so self-absorbed, take a look at this. I think they earned some of it.

I try not to get too wrapped up in politics. I wait until the election is in sight before I make a firm decision and sort of keep an eye on it peripherally before that. I’m a Christian so I put some prayer on my decision as well.
But thats my business. Well I guess if I was that concerned about it I wouldn’t write about it on a blog.
I just can’t see staring at the TV for most of a year before and after a Presidential election when you can figure out what they mean by a little minor research and just listening occasionally to the news. It’s pretty repetitive, once they get all the planks in their platform nailed down.
Anyway, the point is that each of us has a way that we prepare to make our decisions when we vote. I think we should, as a American citizens. It’s our civic duty. It’s a privilege that many in the world would no doubt love to take away. It’s the teeth in threat of a grass-roots movement. It puts the blackjack and billy clubs in ‘throw the bums out’ because most life-long politicians are more interested in keeping their jobs than doing them.

I just saw Mike Huckabee for the first time on TV this morning. He was on the Today show. Looked good. Probably not everyone feels that way but thats OK.
I’m wondering if we need another President from Arkansas and, oddly, if we get one will he make his Presidential library look like a trailer?
